A kitchen, a window, a chef and her team
Sara Nguyen is a Vietnamese American chef. A Los Angeles native, she moved to New York to attend culinary school in 2002. She worked in fine dining kitchens in NYC, Chicago and Los Angeles before opening Wangs in 2014.
Far East meets the American South on a plate
Nothing is traditional. Inspired by the chef's love of American comfort food and influenced by the flavors and cooking techniques of Vietnam, China, Japan, Korea and Thailand.
The window
No dining room — just a kitchen, a takeout window and small street side seating.
Where the ingredients come from
Chicken from Paisanos, bread from Runner & Stone down the street. Real neighbor relationships that show up in every bite.
Park Slope made it their own
Grub Street, NY Post, Time Out, and Zagat have all found the window — but neighborhood loyalty came first and never left.
